Do you have what it takes to be successful?
Are you destined for greatness or are you ordinary?
Success is not a random act. It arises out of a predictable and powerful set of circumstances and opportunities.
By Malcolm Gladwell in his book Outliers
Only 4% of the world is made up of outliers.
These are the people who do not fit our normal understanding of "achievers" - i.e., exceptional individuals.
Why are these people called exceptional?
Steve Jobs, Einstein, Mark Zuckerberg.
Because they are they Rich? Smart? Successful?
Or all of the above?
Well, if success was based solely on IQ, 4% wouldn't really make sense.
Rather, it's a combination of their surroundings, opportunities, and circumstances.
What makes these people exceptional is that they made the best out of what they had and also what they didn't have.
Every little thing in their life counts - where they come from, what their friends were like, and what kind of upbringing they had.
Taking everything into consideration, are these people really exceptional?
Or did we put them on a pedestal for nothing?
Would it be more productive for us to focus on our own lives and make the best of it, rather than sitting and drawing inspiration from "exceptional" people? 👀
You never know.
On a journey to become more like Bill Gates, you might be missing out on an opportunity to become an exceptional version of yourself.
