“And when a leader embraces their responsibility to care for people instead of caring for numbers, then people will follow, solve problems and see to it that that leader’s vision comes to life the right way, a stable way and not the expedient way.”
By Simon Sinek in his book Leaders Eat Last: Why Some Teams Pull Together and Others Don't
Leadership is a role that comes in various shapes, sizes & forms.
But the one thing that remains consistent is how a leader treats their team, correct?
And i’m not going to talk in some corporate lingo because the point i’m making is something even a 10 year old would understand.
Being a leader means communicating your vision to the team so clearly & effectively, that achieving goals becomes a shared responsibility.
Once you have the daily stressors of meeting targets and deadlines out of the way, you work on building rapport with your team.
They care about your vision so in return, you care about them.
For instance, just 2 days back i sent 4-5 long paragraphs to
in the middle of a panicky episode.I saw that our instagram account wasn’t gaining followers and our reels had a very low reach. I voiced my concerns and asked her where we’re going wrong?
I woke up in the morning, expecting to see a feedback on where i should improve and what added work she’ll assign me to help our growth.
But what i recieved was:
-a calm & collected response on how reach & views can change by the second, and it’s not always in our hands.
-how i should just keep doing what i do, and not worry about the numbers.
Things like these are what keeps me motivated to work towards the vision and goals being set by her.
And so, i guess the point i’m making is that your team should always be able to say that they work WITH you, not FOR you.
In honour of
being the best boss ever.
